When installing a sye, what happens to the harmonic balancer at the transfer case output? Is it reused or discarded. Any tips on removing it?

I was just told by the tech at 4X4GroupBuy.com (where I bought my Teraflex super short SYE and Tom Woods driveshaft) that it is not to be reused. I also have seen install videos that show it being discarded.

However...

If you are not positive enough to actually finish the install until this is answered in an authoritative manner then I would call the maker and simply ask them. Most of these companies compete hard for your business and offer quite a bit of free support on the phone. But do not call the vendor. Call the maker. While I trust the guy I spoke to, I will most certainly call Teraflex when I set up to do the install if the provided instructions are not absolutely clear on that point.

You will not re-use balancer.

I got this info off of Stu's offroad site.

3 - 6mm 1.0 thread pitch bolts x 2" long, I believe fine thread. Thread them into the balancer, and tighten a little at a time while going around to all three bolts. If you are lucky the balancer will walk right off.
