Have controls

I'm an issue with my HVAC controls on my 2005 Rubicon. When I have either the a/c or just outside air coming through the dash vents, automatically it will go to defrost or the floor or even mix of floor and defrost, this will last for 5-10 min when go back to the dash vents.

My thought is the the switch for the vents is letting vacuum to the other places somehow
Any thoughts?

Sounds like a vacuum leak. There is a line that runs along the top of the firewall and goes into the cab. Check to make sure it is not broken or cracked. If you ha e a smoker it is easier but if not just a visual inspection can sometimes do it.

And where it goes into the cab is a T & the other leg goes to a vacuum reservoir in the fender well under the battery. If that line falls off or is cracked & leaking vacuum you will get the “sometimes” defaulting to the defrost too so check that as well as the main line from the intake manifold.

It is also possible one of the in-line check valves is bad.
