Headers or stock manifold for 2.5

Hey guys and gals I've got a 98 tj 5speed 2.5l I've got the dreaded cracked exhaust manifold is it worth it to get the banks torque tube headers or just the stock manifold. I've found a bunch of threads for 6 cyl that say go with factory is this the case for the 4 cyl too thanks Ryan

I've heard they are just as prone to cracking, I just stuck with a stock replacement from advance auto and removed the heat shield
I put 3 on with the heat shield and they cracked

My factory exhaust manifold cracked in April. I read all the horror stories and ran right out and bought the headers with the "expansion chambers" from Omix-Ada. Was supposed to be the "magic bullet"

Never used it! My mechanic took off the OEM exhaust, heated it in an oven, welded it, put it back on and tightened the nuts down. She's been running trouble free since!

I'm keeping the headers as a backup, but happy that the CEL went away.

That only applies to the 4.0L engine. The 2.5L uses a cast exhaust manifold.

Welding a crack on the 4.0L header seldom lasts long, it normally just cracks again right next to the weld.

Billybob, I'd just for another exhaust manifold. They don't normally crack like the early '97-99 headers were notorious for.
