horn help

So I just came home from shopping with the wife, and the neighbors were all standing around my TJ while the horn was blaring. I jumped out of her JL and removed the battery cable to make the horn stop. i have had to disconnect the two horns to make it stop. Does anyone have a clue as to what could have caused this? And how to fix it. It is an 01 sahara. Thanks in advance.

I would look for any type in f wiring for an alarm u ser the dash or under the hood if nothing. Try swapping the horn relay with an identical relay. Or get a new relay. The relay may have shorted internally

I didn't nor have I seen any extra wiring, that is why I don't think it is a security system, plus was constant sound, not pulsed like most systems. I will get a new relay after work tomorrow. Thanks for your input.

Sorry for the delay in reply, I replaced the relay and that did not help anything, unfortunately neither Orielys Napa or Auto Zone, the tree places I have available on island, have a clock spring, nor do they even have a part listing for it. I am headed to the mainland this afternoon and will have the ability to visit a few different pull a part junkyards. I will get a couple of clock springs, as well as a harness if it looks good. Will update upon return. If you guys have any thoughts as to what else it might be, let me know.

Thanks

From My experience it’s most likely the air bag cover (Horn Button Portion of it) My 97 TJ did the same thing twice I was able to find a Cherokee that had the same part in a Junk Yard,Unhook the Battery after waiting 10 minutes or so remove the Driver Air Bag Assembly from the Steering Wheel Reconnect Battery Temporally to Check if Horn no longer sounds your problem is with air bag cover

Got back last night, couldn't find a TJ in any junk yard I visited, ordered a clockspring from rockauto. I will try to disconect the airbag tonight and see if that works, if so will be canceling rockauto order and trying to find an airbag for this thing.

Thanks for all of your help.

The Cherokee XJ of the same years has the same steering wheel so assumed it has the same airbag and clockspring. TJ steering wheel changed in '03.

Mopar online parts store show both the 2001-2 air bag and clock springs.

Thanks for everyone's help, turned out to be the airbag module. Got one off of ebay, and was able to change it out in about 10 minutes, if you don't count the half hour I waited after disconnecting the battery.
