Lockers and stuff

I just learned by reading a previous thread and going out and looking at my jeep that i have a D30 3.73 front and a D44 3.73 rear. First question is this good or bad and second, what are lockers and stuff? If I have them how do I know if I don't do I need them? I'm a carpenter use to be contractor now maintenance man, all my other truck's I owned just needed to haul stuff now I wanna have fun with my jeep!

Good. You probably have a limited slip rear diff. Lockers lock the axle together for off road. Provides more traction etc. "Stuff" im not sure

As mentioned above, you have a Dana 44 yahoo! Its a strong axle and can take abuse. You only need to worry about lockers if you find yourself unable to get up obstacles because of loss of traction on one of your wheels. Lockers lock your differentials together, forcing each wheel to turn at the same speed.

While helpful, you hardly NEED them. I've done trails like the Rubicon with just my factory limited slip in the rear and open front with no major hangups. Sure a locker would have stopped me from spinning my tires at a few spots and getting up some lines that I had to retry but it hasn't stopped me from enjoying any trails yet. I'll get one one day.

I would just go out and do some trails, find out where your jeep is lacking, and start building!
