looking for brighter instrument lights - no LEDs

Hello there.

I am looking for some replacement bulbs for my instrument and HVAC cluster that are brighter and whiter, without going to LEDs. I would love to get the superwhites but I need the dimmer to work with the new lights. This is a must.

replacement bulbs are better than the old worn out bulbes but they still have that yellow'ish tint. Just wondering if there are any bright whites out there that fit the , 194 and 74 bulbs (i may be wrong on the size, i have them written down at home) that are incandescent.

Ive done some searching, but I am afraid that what I am finding, is all that is out there but then again, I have come across some threads here where people have posted links to stuff I've never imagined being available.

Thanks y'all.

can you provide link? All the reading i did on the forum, especially the thread by BlackToothGrin, indicated that they say they dim but they don't dim nearly as well as the incandescent and it's hardly noticeable.

My eyes are sensitive to bright / dark situations. So at night, say during country driving where there are no other lights around, I dim my cluster all the way. Also, I don't like the entire cab being lit up because of the cluster. When it's pitch black outside, and lit up inside, it's hard to see out. I had this issue with something as simple as my Sirius/XM radio with the blue. I had to turn that all the way down and even then, it's too bright.

There are other times that I find my self dimming the cluster down all the way, but I think you get the point. I want to be able to adjust. And if that's not possible, I'll deal with stock lights.

Dimming seems to be hit or miss with LEDs from what I've read so far. It may depend on which LED you buy, I'm not sure. Mine dim pretty well, though. Why not give it a try? They don't cost much so there's not much to lose if they don't dim enough but there's a good chance they will.
