Loose Shifter after clutch replacment?

Hey guys and Gals Just finished my clutch today and got it on the road but my shifter seems to be really loose now..I feel like there is alot more play to it now. On the bottom of the shifter is there a bellhousing or something to make it fit snug? Did I break it taking it out? It still works but when im in first it sags all the way down to reverse so its hard to tell what gear im in..If anybody has any input on this please help me out thanks as always..

Jrzzyy

You might have broke it. When I am in first it is almost touching my radio. I would high recommend a short throw. It will make your driving so much better and also easier. I have always had them on my mustang the truck is so sloppy it actually makes me mad. Did you unbolt the shifter when you dropped the tranny or just pull it out in a solid unit? If you pulled it out in one piece you might have cuaght it on the tub or something. IF you did pull it out did you bolt it all the way back in?

yea you want the last 5 mins of your life back after calling the dealer. They are a waste of time. Does it move like that in second gear or what about 5th?

I rly dont think you need a new shifter. You didnt go into the trans at all right. Isnt that where the shifter is mounted inside of it?

i got a B&M short shifter for 224$ shipped. When i took the stock one out there was a black bushing on the end that i had to pop off and put on my new shifter. But everything fit tight again... just dont have to reach in the back seat to go into reverse now.
Only thing i can think of is that bushing
