If it seems like it's coming from around your right foot, I'd say it's just your transfer case shifter linkage.

You can try gently pulling up on it to see if it stops (not enough to engage 4 high), or at least see if you can feel it.

Yeah its between my seat and my feet. cant tell you for sure if it under my right foot lol. but ok if that is it how do i fix it? do i need to worry about it? is it something i need fix NOW or can it wait 3 months from now? oh and i have a standard incase that wasnt clear in my first post.

But it sounds like as if a drive shaft was hitting the under side. it just a quick KNOCK KNOCK when starting off quickly in first.

If it does it when you start out, try it then. How loud are we talking?

Better get under there and look around. Not sure if you mean it is doing it when your shifting from 1st to 2nd or just starting out in first. Could be a few things, noises are hard to diagnose online. I was thinking you were getting the common transfer case linkage noise when starting out, but you may have u-joint and or bushing issues. Check them for play. If it's that loud it should be obvious.

its not when shifting im sorry its starting off the line in first quick. Im not poppin the clutch or anything but starting off quickly. its gas, clutch, KNOCK KNOCK, then RPMS are past 2k then i shift in the higher rpms then 2nd gear. if i start off the line easy "like i should" then no knocking at all, nothing.

Hey I had/have the same exact thing. Do you have an aftermarket exhaust? Mine was the whole exhaust from the cat back moving back and forth knocking on the tranny case skid or linkage as I accelerated off the start. My bolts connecting the headers further up on the exhaust was also lose from all the movement so if I'm right about the knocking then check that also. Im tryin to make a custom bracket to bolt to the frame preventing it from moving at all asap. Hope it helps! Peace

Do you have any kind of lockers/LSD? If nothing is loose in your drivetrain or suspension, I'm still thinking it's your t-case linkage rattling against the body, etc. Anyway, if you keep getting on it " off the line".... It's a Jeep, not a mustang... You're going to get issues. But O Well, when it breaks, you'll find it. Does it make any noise anytime else? Like second into third, etc. When getting on it? Sorry, you've got me curious. Let me know when you've started in first applying gentle pressure on the 4wd lever and accelerate like you would normally get the noise. See if you can feel the thump through the lever. One hand on wheel, one on t-case lever, left foot on clutch, right on gas. Let off on gas and shove in on clutch when you get the noise. If the noise is before the shift into second, what's the problem? Lol. Mine has done it since I got it whenever I turn out of my driveway ( uphill to the right) and I don't have to get on it hard, but it definitely makes it louder and last longer.

I am in the exact same boat as you. I am very curious as to what the answer is. Only happens in first while taking off and it much louder the faster I take off. If I baby it, it is still present but softer.

Mine does it. 2 or 3 soft knocks under the floorboard when I take off, it only does it in first gear. It started after I noticed my exhaust needed tightened up at the header. Ever since I tightened it up, I've had the knock. I haven't taken time to crawl under it and look, but I'm fairly certain it's the exhaust hitting somewhere.

This is a symptom that is associated with the u joint being bad. Look very carefully at the cups on the u joint spindle. If they have moved down or if you can see any spindle bearings showing, it has to be replaced. Can tear out your tranny bearings if not careful.

Nobody mentioned Trans mount, a torn or dead mount will produce the same results. Also check the rubber bushing where the exhaust hanger mounts to the trans mount bracket.

Yeah check transmission mount. When I accelerate hard and shaft fast, the exhaust pipe will smack into my right rear shock, making s nice thud.

My guess is definitely trans/ mount. Mine was doing the exact same thing. The mount was torn in two. Easy to replace, and fairly cheap. Good Luck.
