A code for each O2 sensor....

I've been researching this for a while and looks like the likely culprit is the PCM. No other symptoms, just the CEL and codes. Only recent change is that I added a winch.

I'm hoping that someone else has seen this and found a solution. Any help is greatly appreciated.

i know you know how to wire stuff Ian, but did you by chance disconnect a ground and not reattach it. i find it hard to believe that every sensor would go bad or the ECM. are you still under warranty?

Did it happen immediately after the winch install? Are the heavy gauge winch power cables pinching/rubbing anything else under the hood? Could you have bumped a connector when routing/attaching the winch power cables? I agree that it would be very unlikely for all the O2 sensors to fail at the same time. It would also be kind of weird for the PCM to fail only at reading O2 sensor data and not anything else.

Trace all your wires from the sensors to computer. Also look for disconnected/pinched vacuum lines. If it's running too rich/lean and cant regulate back, it might be the O2 sensors that see that first.

Hey Ken, I didn't disconnect anything when I wired the winch in. I'm not under warranty. I don't think that it is winch related....it's just the only change that I've made.

No. It drove yesterday and this morning just fine.

I checked every connector I could find. i did find a ground strap from the body not connected to anything. Not sure where it came from.....

Thanks, it is still running great. Tonight I disconnected the battery and the codes have disappeared for now. If they come back tomorrow, I'll post back.

Thank you again.

I took it in today and they determined (very quickly) that the PCM is shot. A new one goes in tomorrow under the emissions warranty.

Good to hear you got it fixed, even better that it was under warranty.

My 2005 LJ is throwing error codes for all four 02 sensors (P0032, P0038, P0052, P0058), to include the same 02 sensor (bank 2, sensor 1) that the dealership already replaced a few weeks ago. Truck drives fine. Even the fuel economy seems the same. I'm 99% sure its a bad ECU/PCM, which could be covered by the 8/80 federal emissions warranty...

Here's my problem. Based on prior business I don't trust the dealership to be honest with me about if I qualify for the 8/80. And I don't want to get stuck paying for them to diagnose what I already know. My rig has been lifted, has 36" mudders, and is a registered 'Off-Road Vehicle' in Michigan (even though it's also my daily-driver).

Are the lift/tires/ORV sticker going to disqualify me from the 8/80? Anyone with experience with this, or who know someone who knows someone - your comments would appreciated. If the dealership is going to charge me, I want to know, so I can just do it myself.

thanks!

Same thing here. Only thing in common the 4 sensors share is the ground by the oil filter and the PCM.

I've spent 8 hours running the trouble shooting trees thinking that I solved it (high resistance on the ground and battery voltage leakage) all the while it being intermittent, just to have it show up as hard codes that would not go away (READ - return immediately on startup) after a wire harness wiggle test under the PCM. Then the codes disappeared again.

I've heard of this "Emissions Warranty" - not sure if we qualify. 2006 LJ, second owners.

Anyone else come up with any other answers on this sissue aside from a bad PCM? I have an 05 LJ with 44K miles on it, installed new spark plugs and now I get all 4 of the same codes off and on.
