Park Brake

Anyone have trouble with the park/emergency brake sticking. My 99 started squeaking when I started driving it and the only thing I di dafter driving it earlier was set the park brake kind of hard. Just wondering if this could be the cause of the problem. After driving it about 10 miles with the squeaking noise got out and nothing smelled hot around the wheels.

I had to replace pretty much everything in my parking brake. The plug fell out and got water inside. Rusted everything out.

Installing the parts was simple enough. The headache I had was figuring out how the engagement devices worked. There were two stamped pieces of steel that work together. One end holds the cable, the other activates the brake. Works with the spring tensioner. Anyways, these two stamped pieces of steel were rusted together. Once I took them apart, cleaned them up and greased them...all was well.

I now make sure I inspect the plug every now and again and operate the e brake periodically for no other reason than to keep things moving.

Do TJ's have the self adjusting rear brakes? On my 73 Chev Nova if you were to go in reverse then stand on the brakes, the spring loaded adjuster on the bottom would adjust to tighten the shoes.

Don't quote me on it but I think the drum brake rear Jeeps (TJ's anyways) have the self adjusters. Rubi's don't.
