PCM Causing My Jeep to Stall

Hey, so I have been having trouble with my jeep stalling out randomly sometimes its really bad and sometimes its not there for weeks. Today I had it running and was trying to troubleshoot it and found that when I tapped on the PCM it would begin to stall and then catch itself.

I wanted to see if there are any common issues or fixes that I could do before buying the freakin $400 part?

Have you tried removing its connectors and then reseating them? Reseating electrical connectors can cure a lot of intermittent problems.

Before you do, take the advice above.

Check the seating of the wiring harnesses to and from the PCM. I had an issue last year that I fought for months. Went to replace the PCM as a last and final resort and found the harness wasnt fully seat. Also note the harness runs along the firewall, it is prone to chaffing and wearing out the insulation on wires causing a short. The CPS and CAM sensors are fed by this harness, its happened before on the forum.

Many people take the word of a dealer when they say "replace the PCM". Check everything yourself.

after replacing my pcm 2x's they got chrysler involved and the STAR team told dealer to change out the crank shaft position sensor on mine so far my jeep is running great it does pop a code when they change the oil but if you clear it doesnt come back on so we are thinking that's a sensor for the oil pump..mine would just shut off with no warning and no check engine lights just wish it didnt take a year to figure it out.

I had to change my crankshaft sensor too. Really easy to replace. Couple of bolts and it's located on top of the transmission where it connects to the motor
