Question Potential engine problem.

Hello, I'm new to the forums and I come bearing a tech issue.

Earlier today, I noticed that my 97 Wrangler would not accelerate faster while going up a moderately steep incline. Normally when this happens I just press the gas harder and it will speed up. I hear that shifting gears helps, but I normally just leave it in drive.

This time, however, it would not accelerate and the "check engine" light turned on. First time I've ever seen it pop on. All the gauges showed no signs of a problem and I had just gotten the oil changed at 70,000 miles. (it's at 70,600 right now) I was able to drive it back to town without any discernable problems.

So, does anyone have an idea what the trouble is? I'm planning on taking it to the local Chevron to have it looked at, but I'd like to be able to tell the guys at the shop what the problem most likely is.

If it helps any, I flooded the engine once during the winter in -20 weather after it sat plugged in for a month while I was home for the holidays. After that it ran just fine.

Any information is appreciated. Thanks.

Before you pay to have someone check it out put the key in the ignition and turn the car on, then off, then on, then off, then on and leave it on (all within five seconds and don't start the car). The check engine light should begin to flash with pauses between flashes, write down the number off flashes between pauses and bring them back here or check them on this website: Check Engine Light and someone should be able to help you further.

Code 55 means it is done giving codes and means nothing.
Code 12: Direct battery input to the PCM was disconnected within the last 50 key-on cycles
Code 43: Peak primary circuit current not achieved with maximum dwell time

Sorry I'm not a professional mechanic so I can't define those for you but hopefully you can do a search with that and get somewhere, or better yet some with experience with this can help.
