Rear Main Seal - how much is too much?

We've all seen posts about the notorious rear main seal leak, and how even after "fixing" the leak can come back in short order. Some people live with it, some people fix it again. My question, that I don't see answered, is how much leaking oil is too much? At what point is just to much oil coming out and it's time to get it fixed?

Not sure what year or engine but the 2.5 requires tranny removal but on 4.0 you can do real seal without removing tranny

This is specifically aimed at the 4.0. I'm not questioning "how" to do it, I'm questioning at what point it becomes necessary.

For me, too much was anything on the garage floor. I despise oil leaks! That said, it was relatively inexpensive to have this done on my TJ at a local independent repair shop (< $200 a couple of years ago). That way if it, (including the oil pan) leaks after replacement, it is on their nickel not yours.

When it becomes annoying. A few drips is fine, but after she started leaving coaster size puddles I replaced it.

They warrantied the repair? Wow...that would be worth it right there.
