Replacing Trans mount on 1998 TJ 2.5 AX5

Hello,
I've been reading all the threads concerning trans mounts, but my mount seems a bit different. It doesn't appear to connect to the skid at all. Is this true? There is a bracket attached to the TC, and it looks like the mount is attached to that bracket. But not the skid...

Therefore, a TC drop using spacers isn't going to do me a bit of good right?

Anyone with the same setup, I hope you can help me sort it out. I have 2" of lift and don't like the angles on the rear.

Thanks a million.

Of course I read a different thread that shows it attaches further back... Confused. Taking it apart is the only way to figure it out. I know the mount is jacked, I can see the trans move when driving. (attached a camera)

There should be 4 nuts recessed in the center of the skid. Those would be on the transfer case mount studs. Remove those nuts and you should be able to jack the transfer case up high enough to unbolt the mount from the tc bracket. I usually block up the engine oil pan and just pull the skid after removing the nuts.

You shouldn't need a transfer case drop with a 2" lift. If you have a bad mount, that's probably where your issues are coming from.

Yep figured it out once I got in there. The mount is shot. So is the skid. Thanks!
