Seat cord

My TJ seats have what I call a pull cord located on the both seats. This pull cord is what is used to gain access to the back of the vehicle. Basically, you pull this small hoop that is located on the upper part of the seat, the top half and the bottom half flip forward. It uses a wire cord that attaches from the hoop in the seat to the underside of the seat, and when you pull on the cord, it releases some mechanism under the seat that allows it to flip forward. All cool until the cord breaks. Is there somewhere that sells these cords? this is the only way to gain access to the back without having to slide the seat forward, and that still doesn't allow the seat to flip forward.

To flip the seat forward all you must do is reach under the seat and hit the lever. It's under the seat beside the slider track.

You can ONLY get the cables from the dealer. Price will depend on your location but $45 to $80 for the cables a piece. Easy to install, it's a pretty simple job.

1 unbolt seat.
2. remove seat from jeep
3. unzip cover
4. remove broke cable
5. install new cable
6.. put all the crap back together.

No worries bud it's a common issue.

HINT...there is more than one cable in the seat...take the seat apart and remove the broke cable to take into the dealer with you so you know the right lenght/cable you need.

Anyone know of some seat covers that accommodates the pull strap? I've got a crack in the seat and don't won't to recover the seats. I've tried a few seat covers but they don't have a hole for the pull strap.

Seam ripper and needle and thread will make one easy... They won't be cheap for custom seat covers, that's why I made my own...
