Stupid question

Are wheel spacers a good idea? I have decided not to get 33 12.50 tires for the sake of not re gearing my jeep. It's a 4 cylinder auto and I recently just thought of wheel spacers but I've never had experience with those. I have 31 10.50s and I like how 12.50s look [reason for wanting 33s] and I was thinking of buying wheel spacers. Good idea or no?

Not an issue. Especially with 31s. They'll improve stability too

IMO, you will be disappointed in the look. A 10.5" wide tire is..well..still a 10.5" tire whether it is forced out an extra few inches via spacers. I'm not a fan of wheel spacers just because of an extra variable for issues like vibes and failure. I would just get wheels with the proper BS you are trying to acheive. Pushing the wheel out more will cause more stress on the wheel bearings.

10.5 stick out quite far already and it looks odd from the back cause the tire is just further out from the jeep.

Regearing is definitely not cheap though. So running 33 12.5s is not the best idea. I do believe my gearing is stock for the 4 cylinder unless the guy I bought it from changed it. Doubtful considering he only ran 31s. And I have no clue how to check that. So the next best thing in my opinion is wheel spacers to make the tires stick put more which is what I really like and it's relatively cheap.

My 10.5s seem to barely stick out at all though. They seem like their stick width but 31 height.

I wouldn't use spacers on any vehicle. They are a bandaid, and are (IMHO) garbage.

Others will disagree, and at the end of the day, who cares what others think....They will achieve the look you are going after. Just please triple check all the bolts, I'd hate for something to come loose or snap and you die.

Take rear flares off if it's legal in your state

We have run wheel spacers on race cars. If torqued correctly they cause no harm. Some will not agree. I don't prefer to do it on my vehicles. They are cheap and if you like it then run it. They are another point of failure and maintenance.

So I believe my jeep has 4.11 gears. So 33s on a 4 cylinder? Yes or no?

I wouldn't with an automatic. I had a 2.5 auto with 31's and it was a slug.

Idk mines on 31s and she seems to roll. I don't have to fight the pedal.

I had a YJ on 31's with a 2.5, accelerated ok from stop lights but was a dog up hills. A there are lots of them here, sometimes had to drop 2 gears. it also had 250k on it, so I'm sure that didn't help. Have used wheel spacers before with no problems, but take a little extra care with them.

I found this chart some guy posted. I have 4.11s so wouldn't this mean I could run 33s?
