Is it possible to swap a 97 grand Cherokee v8 to my 2000 tj and how much would it cost for everything but the trans and the engine?

Anything is possible if you can fit it in there, but just know that in some states, you can't have an older engine in a newer vehicle. So if you plan on moving, you might check into it. It would cost as much as what you can get your hands on a grand cherokee for.. I feel like swapping parts directly from the donor would be easiest, then selling it to pick n' pull for some cash back (if they'll take it). Any engine swap (so far as I can tell) typically requires mostly the same things: PCM, harness, engine, tranny and matching bellhousing to your engine, a cooling system that is adequate, engine mounts, shortening and/or lengthening your driveshafts if you can't get the placement perfect, stronger rear end (if you're running the 35 and large tires) and some custom exhaust if you can't fit it right.

I've never read about a grand cherokee swap, but I'm sure it's been done...

You may be able to find threads on this on some of the forums.. Try looking into other swaps, and you'll probably get the general idea as to what is needed and from there you can look into part pricing. That's really all the advice I can give as I'm sure cost is going to be different based on location, luck, and who you know. Good luck.

I was saying this because I found a Cherokee for $450 for parts and nothing was wrong with the engine, I will look into it to see if I can do it
