SYE Kit Driveshaft Question. 97 Front Driveshaft cut down for 05 rear TJ

Installing SYE kit in 2005 2.4L 6 speed. I found a deal for a good condition front driveshaft out of a 97 TJ for $30. I heard you can have them shortened to fit in the rear. Is this the case? Obviously a driveshaft with a DC joint and slip in the shaft is what im after. If i can have a "custom" shaft made for around $100 with this setup, i wouldn't mind saving the $.

Yes that can be done but what condition are the 3 u-joints and centering joint in that 22 year old driveshaft? Personally I'd get that rear driveshaft from Tom Wood at www.4xshaft.com and tell him you want it made with Spicer 5-1310x u-joints which are sealed and more durable/stronger than most greasable u-joints are. Mention my name to Tom and you may get a little bit of a discount. I've installed 4-5 of their driveshafts over the past 20 years and between their quality and the pre/post-sales support you get from them they're very hard to beat.
