Torx, nuts & bolts

Evening all ... can anyone recommend a good place to get replacement nuts & bolts, including torx bolts? Thanks DD13

Welcome to the forum. For specialty fasteners such as cap screws and button heads with Allen or Torx heads, I use FASTENAL. They usually have a good selection and you can get them in black oxide or stainless. The black oxide will rust.

Fastenal is the place to go for all of it and, the good news is, the ones from Fastenal won't strip out like the OE fasteners!

Find yourself a good local nut and bold dealer. There are a few close to where I live at and they always have a good assortment and are wiling to help with what ever you need. I have used Fastenal also with good luck too.

They have everything at Fastenal, or you can check Grainger.

Welllll ... I went by two Fastenal's today ... neither carries these torx bolts (for my 03 Wrangler X) ... actually the guy in there had no idea about them. I'm in Maryland, I guess they don't know those here. Any other ideas where I might find Torx head metric bolts???? I'd love to find on on-line place to find those.

Thanks all ... DD13

As posted, maybe try Grainger and also, MSC Industrial Supply. You should find catalogs on the net for both.

You can go with a non-torx conventional hex-head bolt in every location I can think of in the TJ, that'd save more looking. Just make sure they're the right grade (strength) for the application.

I thought these places you had to buy in bulk, they will sell small quantities? I just ordered the three bolts that fasten the steering gear box and they were $21 + at the dealer. Could I have gotten them from one of these places?

Ya the hardware drawer at ace Home Depot or lowes have grade 8 bolts. Head don't matter just threads. Grade 8 is strongest there is. (That I know of)

For the steering gear bolts, I have just bought grade 8 hex head replacements from the local hardware store. Actually, as Jerry suggested, did the same thing when I put tow hooks on the front of my 00.

Thanks folks . . . I'll try MSC, I'll start switching over to a hex head if the torx head are going to be so hard to find. I appreciate all the responses ... JeepOn ... DD13
