Tranny problem...wont get out of 1st

I have a 97 TJ 4.0 auto 3spd. This morning, it was about 3 degrees outside. My gas pedal wound not puch down all the way....SO I FORCED IT TO.

now my TJ wont shift out of 1st gear.

any clues??

Never force anything! You might have snapped the a cable on your throttle linkage, start there.

The gas peddle has a cable to the trans so the trans knows where the gas peddle is so it can shift. Sounds like it froze and when you floored it, the cable went into "full toddle" and the trans thought you were flooring it and didn't want to shift. Once it warmed up and released, the trans saw that you were not flooring the gas and shifted.
