Transmission Control Module

My 03 TJ has 99,950 miles on it. It has the 4.0L engine the an automatic transmission. The transmission was recently rebuilt. It is back in the shop for a check engine light that showed a transmission temperature of 1,000 degrees. That was an obvious false reading. The mechanic tracked down an issue with the Powertrain Control Module (I know it as the Engine Control Module, but I'm not a mechanic). After replacing the module, programming it and going through the learning process they took the TJ on a test drive.

I received a message a message they found that the torque converter was not going into lockup. So they pulled the transmission pan and found debris. Now the transmission is headed back to the shop that rebuilt it. This will be the third time they have gone into it. Luckily it is still under warranty from the first rebuild.

Considering the age and mileage plus having the power train control module problem, would it be wise to go ahead and replace the transmission control module?

My TCM went bad in 2014 with barely 50k on my 04 TJ. It went into "limp mode" only allowing 2nd gear and reverse.
I lucked out finding the problem by swapping the TCM out if a buddy's 04 TJ. Everything went back to normal.
Lucky also that mine is an 04. 03-04 have separate TCM on the driver's fender. 05-06 the TCM is inside the main computer behind the battery.
I picked up a couple from a shop that did V8 swaps. One for a spare. Cheap 5 minute fix.
No problems since.
