What gears should I run In my 98 TJ w/ 5 speed Trans and 33x12.50

I recently started having problems with my Dana 35 that has 3.07s in it, so noWI am on the road to rebuilding the rear end and re-gearing. I am staying with the 35/30 combo and going to upgrade to the Eaton Trutrac front and rear. My question is what size gears should I run. Most of the time I am driving around town with an occasional freeway trip. I am torn between 4.10s and 4.56s and leaning towards the 4.56s? Please help. I don't want the engine to be turning high rpms to run 80 on the freeway but I also don't want any problems if I go to 35s either. Let me know what you thknk.

4.56 gears would be ideal for 33's with your setup.

4.56 is the correct ratio but if you plan on going to 35's you might as well go with 4.88's. Also, the D35 isnt worth dumping $$$ into unless you go to a Super 35 kit with 30 spline axles.

I am running the dreaded D30/D35 combo for about 5 years now. Originally when I bought it I had a TT up front and Detroit locker in the rear with 4.56 gearing and 33s. Was fine, had to change speedo gear to get correct mph but never had an issue (so I thought). Changed up to 35s and snapped an axle shaft and killed the locker driving home from a friends a few months after wheeling at Hard Rock here in FL.
Since then I am still running the D30/35 and have swapped the rear to the matching TT.
If you are not a monster with the skinny pedal and are not running the Hammers or culverts you will be fine for wheeling and daily driving until you can upgrade to a D44 or 8.8.
