What is the expected life of a DieHard Platinum / Odyssey Extreme?

What do you find is the expected life of a DieHard Platinum / Odyssey Extreme?
My DieHard Platinum is 3 years old and I'm noticing a bit slower cranking (it could be something besides the battery causing this).
I see that Odyssey says "With 3-10 years of service life, ODYSSEY batteries save consumers time, money, and aggravation)",
but I'm interested in what you guys have experienced.

Mine is still going strong after 3-4 years, so it may be a few more years before I will know. Fingers are crossed it will last 6-8 years, maybe longer.

That's like asking " What's the life expectancy of yourself "
No one can answer that. When it dies it dies, leave it at that.

AAA/CAA will say 3 years because they like selling batteries.

A good quality battery should last 5 years plus IMO, maybe 6, but don't expect much more, especially if it has a low rating to begin with, has been run down several times or is used in a hot climate.

I have been using Energizer Batteries from Walmart, the ones in my 2 Grand Caravans have a 9 year warranty (3 year free replacement) and the one in my Jeep has a 6 year warranty (2 year free replacement). The battery in my Jeep was installed in November 2008 at 160,000 km. Coming up to 8 years, so it's overdue for replacement. Still working well though.

I can't get the Energizers anymore at Walmart, they changed the name to EverStart and possibly lessened the warranty. Their EverStart MAXX 34N, 795 CCA, has a 36 month free replacement warranty.

Walmart batteries are reportedly made by Johnson Controls which is one of the big guys, if not the biggest.

So to answer your question, you should be good for a few more years providing you don't run it down a bunch of times, don't abuse it and don't live in the desert heat. What does the literature say for your battery - warranty, CCA, CA?

My Diehard Gold is 4 years old and still healthy. Cost a bunch less than a Platinum.
