what lift kit?

I have a 2006 tj, right now the lift on it is some cheap pro comp crap. Its started rusting in the shocks. it also rides kind of rough and i think its 4''. I don't know the exact details on it because as i said its just rusty and crap. I won't to keep it around 3 1/2 to 4'' and looking for something the rides nice and can still perform. I'd like to be around 1,000 or under. I don't need something for hard core crawling, I live in Iowa so really just normal back woods trails.

thanks for any help and suggestions

Measure the springs, stock lengths are 12" front, 8" rear, anything over that is your amount of lift. I dont know the specifics about your lift, but you could just buy new 4" springs like currie and new shocks like the bilstein 5100s. That would be relatively cheap. Well under 1k. Post some pictures so we can see what your dealing with. A 4" lift can be pieced together pretty shoddy in some instances such as dropped pitman arms, stock front trackbar relocated, etc...all of which you should correct if your wanting it done right.
