Winch solenoid bracket ideas?

I mounted the Warn M8000 on the TJ today and instead of buying a bracket to mount the solenoid box I want to make my own. I was wondering what others have done and used, pictures would be great! Thanks

I've seen a lot of people go and buy L brackets at hardware stores, however they usually aren't as thick as the one Warn would provide and I'd imagine break easy when it matters most

Some 2ga welding cable, a couple crimp lugs, and some miscellaneous hardware and you'll have this setup, safe and secure from the elements:

I don't understand keeping the solenoid in the engine bay, isn't it a huge PITA to plug in the remote?

Yeah that Warn bracket is pretty thick! I may end up ordering one, I realized today that I not only suck at woodworking but I'm even worse at metal fab!

Thanks very much for sharing the pic! That is a good spot for protection but I will keep a cover on everything when it rains. I want to keep the solenoid close to the winch, just my preference. Your pic did give me an idea though... A d-ring between the cable and the tow hook. I'm gonna copy you on that!
Thanks!

To solve the "opening the hood to access the remote plug" -
I mounted another connector in the grill for the remote, (handy when rewinding) and in-the-cab winch controls too.

As I remember, the connectors are available at Radio Shack. Take in your remote to match them up.
