Worn zippers for side windows?

Hi all,

Just got a new-to-me '04, and I'm finding it really hard to get the zippers to start on the side windows. The little metal tang at the end is very hard to get past the zipper and into the "holder" on the top itself. It's almost like the material is too weak and folds up on itself when I try to get it going. Once I get it, the zipper seems to work fine. Is the material just worn from use, or are they just hard/awkward to get going?

I don't want to be beaten by a freakin' zipper. :-)

Thanks

It's the nature of the beast. They are hard to get connected.

I try to use the velcro at the back of the window to hold it in place until I can get it started. As far as calluses, you will get those from running the back of your hand against the velcro loop when zipping them the rest of the way. Why they couldn't put the soft stuff on the flap and the coarse stuff on the window is beyond me. That stuff hurts. It will get easier though. You just have to find what works for you.
