Radiator install, Help Please!!

I bought a new radiator for my 87 yj from my local napa store. When I took the old radiator out that was ruined it had all sorts of brackets that held it in. The new one only came with one small bracket and some bolts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First thought is, pull the brackets off your old one as they are needed for the new one.

Post some pictures. Sounds like you took out more than you should have, stevenservices' suggestion will solve that. Judging by the part compatibility on O'Reilly, it looks like we have the same radiator. You basically unbolt the fan shroud, and take that out. Then you have these stupid little screws that thread into a little clip. I think there are three of those per side, and I broke 4 out of the 6. I replaced them all with new bolts. Then there are two brackets on the top that you just unbolt and reuse. NAPA uses the Spectra radiator, and I got the APDI Pro or whatever it's called, basically the same thing, both are on Rock Auto.

Mine is a spectra as well, from autozone. has a lot of brackets right out of the box. Wonder if maybe napa's doesn't? I thought when I changed mine that all those brackets would be a pain in the rear, then unboxed the new one and they were with it already. After the shroud was out I thought it was only 4-6 bolts to get it out... Been a few months, did mine last fall.

If you removed your radiator mount, then you should know it. The mount holds in the headlights, etc. The radiator above is how it should come out of the box. Some holes are for the mounts, some are for the fan shroud. Below is the mount. Either you have the radiator in the wrong way, you aren't seeing how to mount it, you have the wrong radiator, or somehow the radiator mount was "fabricated" and cut up.

When you're posting pictures of the new radiator and the existing mount, find the part number of the radiator.

Double check as well and make sure you have the right radiator.

I'll be up at the UP for a fishing trip this summer, no Jeep though. I've been considering the Jeep Jamboree, but I'll have to see how much I can build this summer.
