Nationwide (US) calendar of events

I've been sitting on this long enough, figure it's time to put it out there so people can use it. Can't guarantee I'll keep it up to date, but it only takes a couple of hours every 3 months or so, so....maybe.

Basically I got fed up trying to find this resource, so I built it myself. My goal is to capture every multi-day event with a Jeep focus. Non-Jeep-specific off-roading events will also show up as I find them, but I haven't made it a priority to try to locate them.

The default view is the current month, so don't be surprised if it's just a blank calendar if you click on it any time soon. Things heat up in February.

http://off-road-events.com/calendar

Please post here any events you'd like to see added and/or similar resources I can mine for information.

You're welcome, hope it's useful.

I should clarify, btw, I'm definitely only targeting annual events. Please don't contact me asking me to throw next month's trip to your favorite offroad park on the calendar (not that I'm overwhelmed with requests).

I'd love to create a map-driven UI: display a zoomable map and a date slider, and events would increase in intensity as you get closer to the date. Needless to say, that's a much bigger project that'll probably never happen.

Bump: reminder that I'm looking for annual events to add. Found http://jeepralley.org/ in another thread, added to my database (but no 2017 date yet).

Er, that's at Great American Jeep Rally. And it's on the calendar now, September 16th and 17th.

Also added:
* Monster Truck Show, Tough Trucks, Mud Bogging | 4-Wheel Jamboree
* https://www.4wd.com/jeep-events/jamboree.aspx
* Jeepin' with Judd | Polk Sheriff's Charities, Inc.
* Tampa Bay Jeep Fest
* Home | Jeepin4Justice
* Ohio Jeep Fest

(And apparently Panama City Beach decided "Jeep Beach Jam" is a better name than "Jeepin' Beach Jam" so updated that entry.)

Still looking for events. Please send 'em my way.

Updated again with more late summer/fall events as the dates become available. Didn't keep a list of updates this time, I remember most:

* GMJC Rock Junction & Rocky Mountain Offroad Expo (Colorado) (these events, unlike the rest, are approaching rapidly: late May/early June)
* All-4-Fun (Colorado)
* Drummond Offroad Adventure (Michigan)
* Jeep Creep (Michigan)

And again, please let me know about other events of interest. I found the GMJC events at Jeep News and Jeep Rumors.

Echo...echo...echo...

Anyway, brought the calendar up to date for the rest of the year and some events into 2018. Still waiting on a couple of events to announce their 2017 events, oddly:

* Desert Splash
* Hump-N-Bump

The big news of the past few days: the Toledo Jeep Fest won't take place this year, but will return next year for its 2nd time. Next year will be 3 days; last year was only 1 day (and a lot of fun, personally speaking). Sounds promising.

Also, the people who organize the huge annual Bantam Jeep Festival in Pennsylvania are running a fall festival for the first time.

In sad news, it looks like Crawling for a Cure has decided not to organize another event this year; the announcement was vague, but it didn't sound promising for future years.

Anyway, check out the calendar, there are now well over 60 events. I've decided not to let the lack of feedback scare me! (It would help if I had any idea whether the calendar was ever visited, but statistics don't seem to be part of the Teamup offering.)

Thanks. I focus on annual multi-day gatherings, and Kansas Rocks Park Creepy Crawl comes closest to that. Added it and I'll keep an eye on the page.

Nothing to apologize for. It's mainly to keep the number of events manageable, plus I figure single-day events aren't going to attract as many people from outside the local area so they're not as relevant to a wider audience.

A long Halloween event including night rides and free admission next day? Worth posting.

Thanks for the positive feedback.

Hump n Bump and Desert Splash both posted their November dates for this year, so those are added, as well as a few late fall/winter events I've discovered recently:
  • International Off-Road & UTV Expo (Arizona, Baja Mexico)
  • Uwharrie Veterans Ride
  • Dayton Off Road Expo

I found out about Jeep Jam in Ohio too late to add it to this year's calendar, but will keep an eye out for next year; looks like a significant expansion is in the works.

The 4 weeks between mid-October and mid-November are quite busy, at least in the southern half of the country.

If you know of any significant annual events in the northern half, please let me know; other than the midwest, and to a lesser extent the northeast, there's just not much I can find at any time of year. Basically west of the Mississippi and north of Colorado/Utah, you're out of luck.

If you can't find events to send me, then create one! I'm sure your fellow 4x4 fans will appreciate it.

More updates:

Somehow I neglected to add the Overland Expo to my database, so the fall event in Asheville and the spring event in Arizona are now on the calendar.

Trail Hero in Utah has been added.

The California Four Wheel Drive Association (Cal4Wheel) hosts several annual events. All are now in my database, several are on the calendar (waiting on 2018 dates on some).

The Tierra Del Sol Desert Safari has been added. Man, California gets all the fun.

Mississippi Mud Fest, at Red Creek Off-Road, has been added. There are a few events on that park's calendar, haven't looked closely but may add more.

Finally, still waiting to hear when SnoFari in the upper peninsula will take place. It's in January, and I believe registration starts in October, so I'd hope the dates will be announced soon.

Welp, lotsa updates. I missed the Snofari announcement and it filled up quickly, so I didn't add it.

Ones I did add in this batch:
  • Every single bloody Jeep Jamboree (wasn't quite as painful this year, improved my script to automate most of it)
  • 14er Fest
  • Off-Road Expos in Arizona, California
  • Molina Ghost Run, in California
  • Jeepers Jamboree and Jeep Jamboree, not to be confused with the nationwide Jeep Jamborees
  • Jeep The Mac
  • Jeep Jam (Ohio)
  • New Jersey Jeep Invasion
  • Great Smoky Mountain Jeep Invasion
  • Drummond Offroad Adventure
  • 36 Hours of Uwharrie
  • All-4-Fun (Colorado)
  • 4 Wheel Jamboree Nationals (Ohio, PA, Indiana)

Note the Jeep Jamboree registration starts in a couple of weeks, and the events in the northeast in particular seem to fill up fast. I believe Dec 3rd or 4th is the first day of registration. Don't miss out.

Moar
  • 4Wheel Drive Hardware Jamboree
  • Big Bear Forest Fest
  • Go Topless Day
  • Great American Jeep Rally
  • High Sierra Poker Run
  • Iowa Jeep Show
  • Jeep Blessing
  • Jeep Island
  • Jeepin4Justice
  • Northeast Overland Moose on the Loose
  • Ocean City Jeep Week
  • Operation Desert Fun
  • Overland Expo East
  • Rally in the Valley
  • Rock Junction
  • Sierra Trek
  • Silver Lake Sand Dunes Jeep Invasion
  • Tampa Bay Jeep Fest
  • Trail Hero
  • TrailFest
  • Wheelers Overland Adventure
  • Willys Reunion (spring & fall)

Personal plea: if you're running an event like this, please have a web page, please keep it up to date, and please put all the relevant information on it.

Facebook is a real PITA to navigate when you're trying to find a single event. Websites with outdated information are worse. Websites with a page dedicated to the event with a big 2018 banner and lots of information BUT NO FREAKING DATES SHOWN are infuriating.

Sorry I’m a little late to the party, but are you no longer doing the calendar? Such a great idea and resource, but I’m sure a daunting task.

I haven’t thought about it much. I abandoned FB which will probably make it harder to find information on some of the events.

I may give it a shot while I wait for my LJ’s manual transmission to be rebuilt (sigh).
