1947 willie original brakes how to update

Hello everyone, I'm trying to help a friend out and find some info on who to talk to or even help from here on how to update a brake system on this old jeep

Define "Update". Rebuild current drums brakes or upgrade to something like discs? Rebuilt and adjusted properly, the factory drum brake setup stops reasonably well for an old Jeep.

However G503.com or the CJ2A page are going to be much better resources for specific knowledge on the subject then here.

True, but any of the "old" Jeep sites will have applicable posts. The 9" manual adjustable brakes used by Willys on CJ's went essentially unchanged through 71. The only exception being the V6 versions from 65 through 71 which got 10" versions.

Probably one of the best sources of info is here:

Later, self adjusting 11x2" brakes are a "bolt-on" and you can do the same with front discs.
