89 cj starting issues

New to the cj world! need some guidance....brought the jeep home the same day it died while driving about 25mph's down the dirt road. good battery and connections down to the starter. I get nothing at the ignition though when the key is turned. gages don't even move in the accessory position? Then later on that day I'm walking by the cj disgusted and I hear the ignition buzzing because the key was left in it? Never made a sound before this issue! Where do I start to resolve the issue? thanks

cj's ended in 86, if yours is an 89 its a yj. sounds like a bad ignition switch
