Hello all, bought my CJ a year ago and slowly fixing problems, as the PO's did most of the heavy lifting.
My 85 CJ7 has an inline 6 from a 91 Wrangler, so it is now fuel injected. I have browsed tons of pictures on google images of under hood shots of CJ's and wranglers and have never seen an intake configuration that matches what I have.
I am looking to replace the system because it seems inefficient and restrictive. When driving I get the feel that its just not getting enough air. An upgrade to a new muffler made some instant improvements, so I am hoping changing up the intake will make a dent as well.
The Accordion hose runs from behind the headlights and into a black metal canister that houses a circular air filter. Further down the line is a PowerAid throttlebody spacer. From what I have read the Jury is still out on their effectiveness.
I have a vacuum guage in the cab and I am noticing that I am getting a whistle noise when I dip down from normal range, and its driving me crazy.
Any info on if this intake is actually good for my system, thoughts on Spacers, and this whistle noise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks All.
