Fuel Gauge

Hello Jeep world !! I have a 1977 CJ 7 and I have problem . My fuel gauge will go to half a tank and then if I tap on it it will go to full . Then after driving it drops to half . It's not going down in quarters and when it's at half it's not really half more like 3 quarters full . My temp gauge never moves I can tap it sing to it take it out to dinner no response . Please help me

I have another problem my heat riser spring is broken its a 258l I was able to free it so it moves and want to lock it in the open position but don't know what the open position is . Can't find a replacement spring anywhere but don't drive much in the cold so don't think I need it .

The temp gauge and fuel gauge are connected together. I would start there. https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q...tm%3B500%3B382
