which cam should I pick

OK so I'm building a AMC 360 out of a 1990 wagon right now I have apart I'm putting torker intake , holley 600 double pumper, headers, msd 6Al box with H.E.I distributor, plan on deleting smog crap too. It is a stock compression motor. Its going in my 1995 yj I know this is the cj part but y'all probably deal more with it

What camshaft do I need? well I have looked at Voodoo and comp cams I like both. Voodoo 262/268 and the 256/262 now comp cams 260H, EX262H

I like them. I want low end torque and need vac for brakes but want you to know there is a cam in there.

I'm running an AMC 360, with HEI and fuel injection, stock compression, and no smog equipment. I didn't look up the specs for the cams you listed but I can say pick a cam that operates in the RPM range that your engine will be operating in. Any one of the RV cams should work fine.

I run a Summit 8600 cam in my YJ. I use mine as a daily driver plus I drive it on several trips to the beach and mountains every year so I spend a lot of time on the road versus off. It has a ton of power but the gas mileage sucks. I did run a Edelbrock 600 on it for a while and it got about 12.5 MPG. Now I run a Howell fuel injection system. It has much more power with the fuel injection but mileage is only about 10.5 with that.
What engine are you replacing?

There are several good resources out there for AMC V8 info and I tend to use them all.

Okay, so I assume you will be replacing the whole drive line. That will give you free choice as to what gearing and RPM range you will run in. Keep the cam mild if you will be off road a lot. You need to make power at low RPM. You will be hurting your performance if you go with a cam that needs RPMs to make power. Also, it takes more fuel to make more HP.

The more power you make the heavier components you will need to keep em from breaking and the added weight can make your Jeep less capable.
Some of the most unstoppable rigs Ive seen on the trail were light weight four bangers.
....But a big honking V8 with lots of power and a nice rumble is so much more fun to drive than a four banger.
