15 inch rims

i have a JK with the 17 inch rims. i was looking at getting 15 inch rims because a jeep looks better with less rim and more tire IMO, so i went to discount tire and asked about getting a 15 inch rim. i was told my the worker there that the 15 inch rim wont even fit over the brake caliper. is that true? i was looking at these in a 15 inch rim size

That's true 16" minimum. At least that what the JK guys in my club say.

Actually. Certain 15 inch wheels will fit. I've heard the popular ones like the crager soft 8's will not. I bought pro comp soft 8's and they fit fine.(almost identical to soft 8's.) Even the guys at 4WD Hardware did not think they would work. I also love the look of a beefy tire around 15's

The Rep from Discount that you talked with and any one else who says all do not fit DO NOT know what they are talking about. Here's the MB 72s and 33x12.5R15s on my JK. Cheers

Yes they will work. That is what I have on my jeep in the previous post.

Take a look at the list that ESP posted too. That way you can find the ones you really want.

The "best" 15 inch wheel is really up to you. I have the Pro Comp soft 8's with 3.75 inches of backspacing. I'd day that the biggest tire you can run on stock suspension is 33 inch. Any bigger than that, you won't be able flex at all on the trail without rubbing the inner fenders.

Pro comp 52 both 15x10 and 15x8 will work fine on a JK.

I can say for sure (as in 100%) that the MB72 pictured will work on an 07 with 33's and absolutely no mods whatsoever. Ran that combo for a while before a small lift and now 35's on that same 15" MB72. Great rim, tough, lightweight, and being aluminum, it won't rust! Looks great too!

What 35" tire are you running?

I'm looking to go from a 33" to 35" myself.

I ordered some GY MT/Rs but after two backorders, decided I needed to go a different route. I needed something that was a good street tire, a pretty good mud tire, and really good on packed snow. Wound up with the Dick Cepek Mud Countrys. Same price as the MT/Rs (when they were on sale) too. They have a nice lug pattern, 3 ply sidewalls, and are nicely siped (which the MT/Rs are not) so they should do well in snow. The vain side of me likes the looks too. $215 at Tire Rack. I'll post a shot in a bit of those tires on the MB72 15's

I wondered why the 15" rim was not as popular these days.....it's the size of the brake calipers they use now in a lot of cases.
Problem solved.....17" wheels 40" tires
easy fix

I realize the likelihood of a response is low, considering this is a two year old post, but I really need a clear answer on this. Will 15'' wheels, specifically Level 8 Trackers in 15 X8 5-127.00 -19, fit on my stock 2014 Sahara? I'm getting them mounted on 33x12.5r15 Duratracs, so them fitting the tire is not the issue. Will they fit over my brakes/calipers?

I've hear so many mixed answers. The guy from DTD on here says they will, but a rep from a local DTD is unsure. Some jeep owners say they will, some say they won't. And the vast majority of local shops say they won't. The issue is that apparently the Sahara brakes/calipers are larger than the Sport, and so 15s will not fit the Sahara's after 2011 (supposedly).

I desperately need an answer to this before I buy them, with 33x12.5r15 Duratracs mounted on them, and get them shipped. Does anyone know an answer with certainty? Does anyone know someone with a 2011+ (especially a 2014) Sahara with running this size wheels?

Brakes are all the same. No difference in sport thru Rubi.

good luck.
