15 vs 17 inch rims

Will be getting a 2015 or 2016 Rubicon in the next couple of months. After asking around, it sounds like the biggest tires you can put on them (without dealing with a lift and with no real chances of rubbing) are 33 inches.

BF Goodrich told me the only 33inch tire they make is for a 15 inch rim. I know they are not the be all/end all tire company. Any other tire suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Anyway, are there any functional advantages or disadvantages in 15s over 17s or the other way around?

I'm running a set of dick cepek 33x12.50r17 with a 3.75 lift. Minor rubbing only on sharp turns. Dont regret running this size at all.

Try this site;

Tire Size Calculator

Select the tab at the top labeled "Tire Size Calculator" and it will give you the conversions. After entering the size on this tab you can click on the tab labeled "Tire Results" and it will give you a list of tires available in that size. The list is not complete but it will give you an idea of where to start your research.

you need a P-metric tire size conversion.

Tire Size Converter

33s are often not exactly 33" in diameter... 32.5-33.5 is more like it.

Are there any advantages to running 15 inch rims over 17s? Or vice versa?

Cheaper,,, will hold a bead better when you air down. Fyi... Not many brands of 15" rims will fit on a JK because of the brakes
