16 inch rims on 2012 rubi

Hey guys. I'm wondering if 16 inch rims will fit a 2012 unlimited rubicon. I also want to put on 285/75/16. So any help with rims and back spacing. Would be great. I'm new to this jeep thing. Thanks guys.

Can't confirm definitively but I'll be putting these same (16x8) and 285s on my 12 JKU in a few days. Most are 4.5" backspacing and 0deg. offset so it may be a factor if you decide on lifting or changing tire sizes later. I"ll be putting a 2.5" later and still should work. From everything I've read, they should fit and haven't seen anything to say otherwise. Just learning too. Go to the search in the top right here and type in - 16" wheels". Lots of info.

Wrangler Duratrac and waiting to see about the AEV 2.5" coil lift. I spoke to a fella at TerraFlex and he said this wheel would work with their 2.5 kit.

Nice that is what I want to do also. Let me know what rims you use and back spacing. And all other info you can share. Picture would be cool. Thanks

Wheel info= Series 7089 - Flat Black Alloy Wheel by Pro Comp

& a pic of another with same wheel/tire. These are 17 x9 with a Tflex 2.5 coil lift. If you type in "Procomp 7089 Rubicon" to google/yahoo image there's more that come up.

Thanks. I don't think we live close so hope you don't mind me using same rims. Lol. They look the best I've seen.

Thanks for the consideration but your money...Though these will work there's alot of other black 16s that can be used so I'd recommend researching more before deciding. I actually saw another type...after I'd already bought these. FYI, I went to Discount Tire as many others have done and ordered these. When you order make sure you ask where they're coming from. I'd hoped to have them on this weekend but the wheels had to come from Cali to NC so I'll have to wait I think. Nothing on them, just ask so you're not expecting and then have to wait.

Both 16's and 15's will work, provided you keep the backspacing to 4.5" or less. If you're going with wide tires, you might wanna go with around 4" bs to be certain the tires won't hit the swaybar endlinks when turning under compression offroad. The lower the bs #, the farther out your tires will sit...you don't wanna go too low or you'll exceed your fender coverage (illegal in many states) and place too much stress on your bearings.

If you decide to go with 15" rims, check with DTD (forum vendor) to make sure they'll fit over the brake calipers. Just about all 16's will fit.

Here's a couple photos of mine with 16x8 ATX 188 Teflon rims and 315/75R16 DuraTracs.

Also, here's a much more complete explanation of choosing tires / rims that I just posted for a new member:

Finding rims and tires???

Just got the new shoes...so to 1st hand confirm the 16s do fit with no problems. Rides good, tracks straight and no lift...at the moment. Had 3 comment on the looks already. Very happy with the choice and result. Wheels have 4.5" BS and 0deg offset - tires are 285/75/16 GY Duratrac. The spare has some space between the bumper and tire now so guess I'll be getting a larger spacer thingy too.

KBW..what bumpers do you have and where did you get the rear tire holder from?

Looks good man!

The bumpers are Rampage Recovery bumpers. The front comes with a winch mount plate, but I left it off till I get the winch in the spring. I put the stock fogs in the front, and bought some Rampage fogs for the rear.

The rear tire holder is the Smittybilt Oversize Tire Carrier. It bolts on in place of the stock carrier, and has an extension to lift your third taillight, if needed. It's not quite ideal for my 35's (even though the DT's are about as light as tires get)...probably gonna get an OR-FAB carrier next summer. Though so far it's kept my spare snugged down tight.

Which reminds me, you want Daystar Bump Stops to replace the ones on the rear of your Jeep so your spare sits tight against it.
