17x8.5 or 17x9?

Looking at some ATX wheels, and they make the same model in both an 8.5" and a 9" width - the 8.5" offset is listed as +10mm, the 9" listed as -12mm

Guessing I should be looking at the 8.5" for a JKU with a 2.5" coil lift and running 285/70/17s? Thanks for any opinions...

I would go with the 9" personally. At +10 offset, your backspacing on the 8.5" version would be around 5.2". That would probably clear fine as that is the same backspace many of the AEV wheels have. But the 9" version with it's -12 offset would provide a backspace of 4.5".

I personally would go 8.5" I have run two sets of aev rims and they work well up to 35x12.5's. Never had any rubbing ever. I have also run 9" wide Raceline rims with 4.5" and they were fine to but I like the tire just tucked in a little more.

The 8.5 is a Jeep specific wheel and is also hub-centric. Very nice fitment.
