2014 JKU tire width question

I've had no luck searching this one out.

Stock 2014 JKU Polar currently running Rubicon take offs. Time for new tires and don't mind changing the rimes either.

I'd like to keep the current tire height but go wider.

How wide can I go without lift, spacers or any other modification at current tire height?

275 is about it 285's will likely rub when turned lock to lock on the oem wheels. Also you'd be looking at going 1" taller with 285's as they will measure out to be about 33".

If you want to stay at the same height then a 265 is about as wide as you can go as I've never seen a really wide 32" tire. If you do a 33 you'll likely rub the fenders when flexed off road a leveling kit would take care of that. I run 305/70/16 (33's) with a Teraflex leveling kit which is a perfect match for my tire height, no rubbing even when disconnected.

Hey you may want to consider the Cooper ST Maxx 255/80r17. They're tall and narrow. Check this thread for more info https://www.wranglerforum.com/f274/25...xx-951001.html

275/70/17 equates to 32.2 and 255/75/17 32.1 so pretty much the same height but 11" wide instead of 10". Would be a good choice without hurting fuel consumption much at all.

If 275/70/17 gets me 11 wide. I think I'll go in that direction.
