315/70-17 KO's on 2.5" lift - fender/wheel well interference?

Looking at options for mounting BFG 315/70-17 A-T's on a JKU RHR with a 2.5" TF Coil lift.

Stock rims with 1.5" spacers

aftermarket 17 x 8.5 (or 9) with 4.5" back spacing

How far out from the fenders will the tires stick out?

Will the tires clear the fenders/wheel well without interference (stock fenders, not trimmed)?

Any rubbing issues?

Thanks!

I Am looking for the same answer... Too many threads not enough info on tire/wheel/lift... I have a 3" lift on a 2013 JKUR and I'm looking for the best fender clearance wheel combo to fit Bfg km2 35.. I can't seem to find info or photos on wheel backspacing, rim width, and clearance. I live in pa so any tire that breaches the fender is illegal

If you're still running the stock track bar you'll need to trim the front air dam on the passenger side. About 1-1.5" should do.

You got me on that one.... Air dam? Trac bar? I need the correct backspacing on a 17" rim that will won't stick the tires too far past the fender.... These tire threads are like pulling teeth to get a certain spec. Lol. But I've been searching so long and found a beautiful thread on 33's, but nothing on 35's

To clear a 12.5" tire you'll need to run about 4.5" backspace whether with wheels or spacers.
We just put 315/75/17 on the wife's Jeep (34.4"H x 12.5"W)

In our case we kept the factory wheel (6.25" BS) with 1.75" spacers to get to 4.5" BS. It sticks out a little. I just went in the garage and snapped a couple of pics (below.) If you're area is strict on sticking out past the fender then you'll probably need a narrower tire. Might also be able to get away with 5" BS.

And here's a diagram of the components:

There's a factory air dam that covers all that up. You'll need to trim it some unless you have aftermarket bumpers.

That's not too bad, I've seen guys around my area with that much tread sticking out, but you can't get inspection and run the risk of being pulled over... Back spacing must be a trade secret or something...

And another pic from a couple of days ago when the tires were installed:

My Jeep is 4.5" BS but a 13.5" wide tires, it sticks out a little LOL

Now this guy has the correct spacing I'm looking for... But he doesn't list the backspace... Any guesses?

I also have the TF 2.5" lift. My tires are 35x12.5 R18 BFG KO2, so very close to your size, except for wheel radius. My wheels are ProComp wheels that are 18x9 with 5" backspacing. I had no rubbing issues at all with the stock fender flares, even with both axles shifting a little to the driver side. I've since swapped to some Poison Spyder flares, but I remember that my rear driver side tire stuck out 1.75" past the stock flare (Measuring from outer edge of flare to outer edge of tread), and the passenger side was 1" (The lift and track bar bracket they supplied shifted the rear axle 3/8" toward the driver side, but it did not cause any rubbing). I don't have an old picture from straight behind the Jeep, but here are a couple that will give you some idea of the clearance.

Good info, good info... Have you articulated it with the 5" backspacing? I do off-road as well as DD... The club I was in does like to rock crawl, so this is important that I can get full articulation out of my JKUR and use every bit of that 3" lift without wheel rub.
Also, I think with the 1" overbite outside of the flares, I can get away with riveting a small strip of thick rubber to the underside lip of the flare... I don't think it will look too ugly. I like the way stock jeeps look and I'm not very interested in changing the flares to a "flat" or "bulky" setup, which seems to be the only aftermarket except for the high boy flare kit that lifts the stockers up a little.

Right after my lift and wheels/tires went on, I tested a little on a ramp just to see what happens flexing and there appeared to be plenty of room in all the wheel wells. I did not disconnect the swaybar, though. And my offroading has been limited to dirt and gravel, so I really don't have proof for you that nothing will rub. The shop that put all of it on assured me that 5" backspace was fine, and I did notice that many of the wheels on display where also 5".

I found this thread useful when I was deciding, especially post 12. https://www.wranglerforum.com/f354/wi...ed-145405.html
