33x12.50 or 285/75 which looks bigger?

I think I have noticed 285/75R16 tires do not look as tall as a 33" with 15" rims. They are both 33" diameter, so I think it's because there is less sidewall.

Do you guys agree?

Also, is the ride noticeably stiffer with a class "D" tire and 16" rim?
Opposed to a class "C" tire and 15" rim of the same diameter (33").

And finally, does a 33x12.50R15 negatively effect handling due to moving the tire out so far (reduced backspace)?

I have a 2001 Wrangler (TJ) with a 3" suspension lift.

Thanks guys!

FYI, the reason why I am asking these questions is I am torn between purchasing 33x12.50R15s and 285/75R16s.

I agree. I think that the more sidewall makes the tires look bigger. As far as handling, Ive never ran 33s, but Ive ran 32s, and currently 35s, and havent noticed any negative effects from the tires. I would go ahead and stick with the 15 inch tire IMHO (they are also usually cheaper than 16s too)

I completely agree that 33's mounted on 15's look bigger because of the bigger sidewall. I put 33x12.5x15 tires on my jeep about a month ago and I love them. The backspacing on the wheel is 3.75 so it definitely sticks out more than normal, but I like the look.

My Jeep is a JK, so I'm not sure how much it will differ from a TJ, but I still think it is a great look.

I haven't noticed any decrease in handling since I swapped them out.
