33x12.50R15s on 8" or 10" Wheels?

I have new Duratrax 33x12.50R15 tires on a 2001 TJ. I am running 15x8 3.75BS Soft 8 wheels.

They ride on the center portion of the tread. I have aired down to 25psi for street. The outer 1" and inner 1" of tread still does not seem to be touching the ground. I know this because I have driven on my wet driveway and looked at the water pattern on the tire.

I worry, possibly out of ignorance, going any lower wouldn't be safe. The only idea I came up with is going to 15x10 wheels. Any ideas?

Stop thinking and all your problems go away.

Going with a wider wheel will normally help keep the tire flat on the ground since you have a wide tire. You should be able to air down a little more to get it flatter as well. Or not worry about it. They will wear in eventually.

For reference I run between 22-24 psi in my 33x1250 KM2's mounted on 15x8's. Mine are pretty new and the outer edge does not touch on pavement for me either.

You don't want the outer edges on the pavement or you will be under inflated on an 8" wheel. Sounds like your 25 psi is about right for your set up. I run mine at 28 on 8" wheels.
