35" Nitto Trail Grappler

Hey all...

I have 35" Nitto Trail Grapplers, and when I washed them a few months ago a guy from the tire shop said I shouldn't use a tire shine/gloss product on them, said it would wear them out sooner. He said I should use Ivory soap to shine them up. What's the best way to take care of them?
