Anybody own a tire siper?

Hey all, I've been reading up lately and I think I might want to sipe my tires. I know i can probably take my tires somewhere and have it done, but I'm more of a do-it-yourselfer kind of guy, that way I can be all anal about it and make sure the siping follows the contours of the lugs, etc.

Anyways, does anybody own one? Is it an electric heated model, or just the standard blade model? Just looking for some input, I might buy one soon. Saving money isnt a huge deal, aka if the $200 electric one works a LOT better than the $39.95 standard one, i'm totally ok with getting the better one.

Thanks in advance for any input!

Two things I should point out, if you don't already know:

1. Improper siping can cause chunking (when chunks of tread tear off your tires) even with highway-only use.

2. DIY siping will void the mfr warranty on your tires.

That said, here are some links. Both are kind of how-to guides, but the first one deals with some peeps who bought an electric heated tool like the one you mentioned above.

Good luck!

Good point.

He's where I'm at: Wisconsin. Don't know if it's legal here or not. I've got DuraTracs, which come from the factory siped.
