Wink BFG KO2 or Cooper A/T 3

I have recently acquired some Micky Thompson Classic III in 17 x 9 for my 2011 Wrangler Unlimited which has a Rancho 2 inch sport lift. I am trying to decide on BFG KO2's or A/T 3's in 285 70 17. Currently I have A/T 3's in 265 70 17. Which of these two tires will give me the best performance. Most of my driving is on pavement with hunting and fishing trips when time allows. This is my daily driver.I know that these two tires are E rated and will give a harsher ride so reducing tire pressure to 30 lbs or less may be required. Any imput appreciated.

I'd hate to be that guy, but I would definitely consider General Grabber AT2s. I was looking at these three tires, and the Generals have nearly an identical tread pattern as the KO2s, but at a lower price. The Generals and BFGs are the choice for performance, so they are a little bit louder and give a rougher ride, but each of those cons are negligible.

My friend has Cooper A/T 3s on his Chevy Silverado, and my grandpa has a set on his rear axle of his Ford F-250. Both seem to like them, my friend uses them for offroading and they're amazing. My grandpa's truck is built to tow a full semi truck trailer, so it's a little too heavy for mudding. They seem to do better on heavier vehicles. Coopers have the better comfort, because they don't have the oddly shaped "lugs" in the tires, as I like to call them.

If you compare the tread patterns of the Generals and BFGs with the Coopers, you'll notice that the Generals and BFGs have a tread pattern that overlaps itself, while the Coopers have a pattern that will evacuate water better because of the lines that run the full circumference. The Coopers will do better in rain and ice, while the others will do better in mud and rock. Both will be good in snow.

Essentially the Coopers will give better on road performance, while the others will perform off the road. For hunting and fishing, it sounds like you will mostly be going through grass, mud, snow, and leaves. Coopers sound like the best choice for you, they do well in slippery but solid surfaces, such as leaves. They'll be great for the occasional trail in hunting and fishing season.

I have the KO2's and just got to see what they would do in the soft stuff this weekend. They did better than I would have thought and I managed not to embarrass myself. They are severe snow rated so would be great in the north. Except for a tiny bit of tread noise, doors off radio off is the only time I hear it, they are dead quiet. Personally I like the more aggressive sidewall than what is on the Cooper. The AT3 looks like it belongs on a SUV not a Wrangler.

I ran at3 in 275/70-17 and ko2 in 34x10.5-17 and ko2 much better off-road and as good on. 4wd sells the 34's $257 a pop and discount tire will beat that. I did 4 for $1000 via dtd

Do you think the 34X10.50-17 KO 2 would clear on a hard rock unlimited with a teraflex leveling kit and one inch wheel spacers?

Thanks all for the input. Inside I want the KO2's they just look awesome. The difference in cost of the A/T3's makes them better on the wallet. The 265's I have now lasted.

The few dollars you will save now will bug you every time you walk out and look at your jeep.

I second the look of the BFGs. Coopers don't look as nice. I like the look of my Generals, though, and I can say that the look seems to increase the performance.

Go with the KO2.

I have the coopers in the 285 flavor and can say I will not buy these again. They do fine on road but that's about it. And they run short.

I have heard that the 34 KO2's run short. How about the 285 KO's? The KO2's do look good.

all the KO2's are going to run short. the 34's are 32.2" mounted on the jeep. 33" mounted off the jeep. I have been next to 285/70 KO2 and they are same height but fatter.
