Biggest tire size

Hey
I have a 1995 Jeep that is a 4cyl 2.5L that currently has 31in Goodyear wranglers on it and was told that the biggest tire size I should really go is 33in and was just curious to if that is really true or not

I have friend that put 33s on his 92 no lift no fenders. It's a fun toy, but not his only vehicle. I doubt he can hit 45mph, fourth gear is weak, fifth gear is unusable.

Ok right now I can go about 65 and that’s all so I’ll stick with 31

I have a 99 4cyl. Currently with a 2in lift and 32's. My TJ runs just fine everywhere. Hills give it a little trouble, but iit's a manual so I just down shift a bit and I'm on my way. Everyone on here warns people looking for advice on this topic not to go bigger on tires for 4cyl, but have THEY done it? I've been planning out a 4in lift and the biggest tires I can get on it. If it slows down too much, I'll regear it. But a little more sluggish than it is now in exchange for some big honkin rubber donuts is worth it
