can I put 2012 Rubicon rims on a 2003 TJ?

showing off my (about to be purchased ) 2003 TJ to buddy and he offered me the OEM take offs from his 2012 Rubicon (just the rims, he sold the tires). Anyone know if they will fit?

Next question is how big can I go on the rubber before I lift? 33?

Thanks - its fun being a new guy...

TJs and JKs have different lug patterns. (87-06 YJ/TJ/LJs are 5x4.5; 2007+ JKs are 5x5.)

You could potentially make JK wheels work on your TJ with adapters, but why? Better to buy wheels that fit your jeep.

I did something similar using Spidertrax adapter/spacers make it work. Just talk to someone there to get the proper configuration. Mine are 1.5 inches wide.
Expect to pay about $200 for 4 of them to get the rims to work on your rig. Or just buy something that works like Mr. Bills says and you could save that $200.

On the tires, you're pushing the envelope on 33's without a lift. I expect you'll rub and have travel issues. Poke around, there's plenty of threads on the subject that are far more defin itive than what I just said.

so - the story just changed - a different friend just offered me his stock 2015 rims and tires. they are never used - off of a "Special Edition(?)" Black with Duelers - have to check the tire size. Might have to do that one. Does the lug conversion create any issues - is it bad for the truck?
thx

Adapters versus Spacers -
I once put new OEM 2008 JK Rubicon wheels and tires on my 2004 TJ Rubicon using "adapters" that also provided "spacing" for the stock 32" tires. I used the SPIDERTRAX brand adapters, and also received many complements for the look.

they are P255/70R18. Can I fit those under a YJ without a lift kit? They look great. THANKS!

Thanks membrain - did you need a lift kit? Ill probably add one any way at some point but I'm wondering if its a must.
Thanks for the input

No lift kit at all. No rubbing.
