Unhappy Discount Tire Out of Kevlars?

Hey guys,

So a week ago I placed an order (or reserved, whatever you wanna call it) on four 35x12.5x15 GY MT/R Kevlars through discount tire. I called tonight to make sure they had them in stock for when I go pick them up tomorrow. They told me that they were checking all over for them and were told that they were on backorder I really like these tires, but they have no good estimate of when they will be available...he says as of right now...they are looking at 6-12 weeks but it could be longer. He said that he should be able to get me some BFG KM2's if I am interested though...they have good reviews what do you guys think?

I have that exact size in the kevlars and could not be happier (well unless they we cheaper). I would call around....maybe a town fair tire or something has them in stock. 4wd.com also price matches.

My son has them under his beefed up Cherokee, 7" lift....and loves them. He ordered them through Tire Warehouse and took a couple weeks to get them...but THEY take care of mounting and balancing, freight was included, and any warranty issues they handle. If you order on-line or from a catalog...any warranty-you have to ship the tires back where they came from! So stick with a local dealer and just hound them about getting them in stock faster. Don't go with a substitution... the Kevlars are premium and worth it.

Alright guys! UPDATE! I checked with a local tire shop in town and they had their truck down in LA picking up tires...they called GY and they had 4 left in stock!! So as soon as Saturday rolls around (tomorrow) I will have my new Kevlars. I am so glad I could find them.

IMO mine have already paid for themselves the past few weeks with all the snow and ice we have been getting in CT. Esp the storm that dumped a little over 2' in under 24hrs!

I don't think I'll have to worry about the snow and ice where I live, but rocks on the other hand...nothin like opening up a sidewall on the trail

Well if I could afford a new spare I would. I will probably do what I've done every other time and check around with all the tire shops for a take off. I usually pay 30-40 for mounted and balanced take off that holds air and is in reasonable condition. One of these days I may consider buying a new one tho.

good luck finding a decent 35x12.5x15 MT take off at a shop. Most people around here keep them and list them on CL. Most usually ask around $100 each even for ones that have round 30-40% tread left and signs of dry rot. I would rather spend the extra $100 and buy a new one than waste it on something that is on its way out.
