Duratrac vs KO2

Thoughts?
Looking for a quiet tire. Car will be off-road maybe 5% of its life and live in Southern California, so rain and snow are not really an issue.

If your off road is rocky then the KO2's are hard to beat. If you are more likely to play in a mud hole then the Goodyears. I run the K02's and they are great on pavement, trails are fine and they grip rock like a parrot fish.

I really wanted to go with Duratracs but far too many say they have gotten flats from sidewall being so thin, even on pavement driving. Small sticks can puncture the sides. that's real important to me. Duratracs seem to be made for commercial duty as they are listed like that. So they don't expect delivery trucks running off road, and I guess they feel a thin, two ply side is enough.

If I lived in CA, I'd get some cool MTRs or KM2s something for the dry, rock stuff. For snow, ice and mother nature, my old BFGs were great, and I hear the KO2's I much better.

I have Duratracs and love them. They seem to be holding up well and I've got probably 15k+ miles on them. They do have a softer sidewall but unless you're doing extreme rock crawling that won't be an issue. I know discount tire offers a warranty and will replace a tire no questions asked.

I have both. The dura trac is better for mud yet still quiet on the road. The ko2 is better on snow/ice and has better sidewalls.

GY DT has a hybrid MT/AT tread designed to handle a wider range of terrain types. The KO2 is just an AT tread but has a far superior side walls to the DT. Both are top tier but not the only top tier tire available. Also take some time to look at Cooper, MickeyThompson, Nitto and Toyo.

Just had 305/65R17 KO2s put on the wife's Rubicon replacing 20k mile original KMs. Quieter and the ride is MUCH improved. Was not expecting an E load tire to ride better. And I still have 'em at 38psi. No off road or snow yet but rain traction is HUGELY improved.

I have the KO2's, and I love them, very quite and still good on the trails.

285/70/17's installed very surprised how quite they are, less then the Bridgestones. Actually looking forward to the snow, sorta.

Got KO2s last week. Real nice ride on the road. Next to the duratrac in the shop, was more impressed with how the ko2 looked and felt lot more durable and stronger. It looks pretty tough in person. Dura looks cool from a distance with the deep tread, but I just did not feel confident with it, especially after seeing it in person,

The KO2 looks pretty good. I run the MTRs on the JKU but the DuraTracs on the 4Runner (almost 10,000 miles on them). I mainly wanted an AT that does well in the snow, and it delivers. I may try the KO2 next time but it has to do well in all sorts of snow and some ice.
