Falken Wild Peaks or Rocky Mountains?

Is there a difference in tread depth or something? Not really sure which one I should go with. The Wild peaks are 4 more bucks per tire. Is there a reason for the price difference?

Will these tires perform as well as the duratracs in the mud?

Thanks!

The only thing that annoys me in that review is the "mud" they go through. It looks like a puddle to me.. something I can cross now with my 3 stock tires and one spare lol. The mud around here is more like a swamp. For instance this is my friends stock TJ going through some mud with 31" BFG TA KOs. Would these tires be comparable to the BFGs?

yes you'll be comparable to the bfg at's

if you're worried about them, just get the bfg's and call it a day...

Heck no haha. Everyone has the BFGs around here. Gotta switch it up. And now that I know the Rocky mountains and wild peaks are really the same tire and they'll be comparable to BFGs, I'm pretty much sold on this tire. Just got to wait maybe another week to order them

I hope I dont change my mind over that period of time. Another thanks to you Owen, you sold me on this tire

Good man...

you wont change your mind. The rocky mountains were the first tire i saw and wanted. then i looked at 4 or 5 others and thought i wanted those and when it came down to the time to get them on, i even postponed putting my lift on by a week so i could get the rocky mountains...even though a couple others i had looked at were in stock...

love the rocky mountains

Sweet. I'm looking forward to getting mine. Except I'm getting the Wild Peaks I think because the Rocky Mountains are out of stock

Were they on back order when you bought them?

I'm calling discount tomorrow to find out which ones are in stock and I might even order them if they are. I'm really excited lol

Their site said they were on backorder but i called anyway...had them in stock and shipped the same day. I got them like 3 days later.

Call them and see what they say about them...also remember to mention being a wrangler forum member and get your 50 bucks off

I would but the $50 off is only for buying 5 tires. I'm only buying 4 But if I go with the Wild Peaks, I get a $60 rebate.

To be honest, man...i wouldnt do any of it then if times are hard and you're trying to support yourself.

I'm not talking to like a dad or anything like that, i'm 24 so i know exactly where you're at.

You've gotta get the priorities strait and lifting the jeep shouldnt be one of them...

i've been wanting to lift mine since i got it but with rent, bills, food, and all the other necessities it wasnt possible. I then decided to move from Iowa to Colorado which wasnt a cheap trip...

took a little while but i'm in a position now where i could afford it as well as still afford everything else such as bills and living expenses...

I really dont mean to sound preachy or anything like that, but i've definitely made my own mistakes where i bought something and then wish i wouldnt of because other things came up and i had to struggle to get through them...

if you can afford it, then go for it...

but if its gonna hurt you to do it, dont do it and put it off a little bit...

Thanks man I appreciate it! But like you said, I've been saving up for a while, and now I've got me a decent job at a boat yard where I'm working almost every day, making around $300 per job I do. In the next week or so I'll be making $600 $350 is going towards the tires and then I just have to buy new brake lines. The rest I save for lunches and other necessary stuff. But thanks for the advice man. I get money happy sometimes and blow a lot of it. Then I end up needing it later. But this time I know what I'm doing

good deal then, man...

and i dunno if anyone can blow money like i do lol...which is the only reason i felt like sayin somethin haha.

But if you're gonna do it, get a matching spare as well..because if you need it offroad and its not matching, it'll tear up your gears and you'll be in a big money crunch to fix it

Its only an extra 150 bucks...

I've spent so much money on random stuff as well as my vehicles and its better to do it right if you're gonna do it.

When you ordering?

I ordered today. Got the last 4 I couldnt get the spare now but I definitely plane to get it before the summer. The local place to go isn't anything too serious though. I've made it all those times with thin 2 ply all season street tires. I'm sure these will stand up to more abuse haha.

Good deal...did you go with the rocky mountains or the wildpeaks?

Ok, at least you'll get the matching spare...

I had a buddy with 35's run a 33 as a spare because he had one left over and it tore up his diff when he needed the spare...

a smaller size spare tire is fine for a very short trip but its use is super limited which is why having the matching spare will be a good next purchase.

congrats on the tires though! You'll love them

The Wild Peaks because the Rocky Mountains were on back order. And yeah definitely, I don't like the look of an unmatched spare tire. And thanks for the info on the spare. I'm going to over inflate my spare that's on there now and hopefully get the same height as the other tires. It's like an inch short. And thanks man! Can't wait till they come.

why would he do that when they arent made for a 15 inch rim and to compare the two in price, the 285/70/17 nitto is 150 dollars more per tire than a 285/70/17 rocky mountain

doesnt seem like a very smart option to choose
