Faulken Wild Peak A/T

I have a 1991 Wrangler and am going to use as a hunting rig, rock crawler, play toy and was thinking about putting the Faulken wild peak a/t on. I was wondering if anybody knows anything about them. I heard that they were a good tire but then again it was the salesman telling me that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone knows of a better tire then please let me know. I dont want to spend alot of money around 180ish.

Just bought a set for my 1993 in 30x9.5x15. Got them from a large distributor and they are actually labeled Rocky Mountain, but I believe it is the same tire. I loaded four people plus luggage and drove 951 miles for Christmas. No complaints. They look great. The ride has greatly improved. I replaced very worn (but still serviceable) Sport Kings. On highway the new tires are much more comfortable and quiet. The old tires would make it ride like the wheels were loose. Have not taken them off-road and am (not so patiently) waiting for it to snow to try them out. The old Sport Kings were horrible in the snow, but since they were worn, this might have been normal.

just go on tire rack and get yourself a set of km2s i just ordered 35" mud terrains for 174 a peice

I put a set on my JK last month. I really like them, I have put 2400 miles on them since Thanksgiving. No complaints so far, they performed well in the GA dirt and mud I was playing in a few weeks back as well.

I was fortunate enough to have been invited for a week long extreme off-road trip last year. (www.jk-experience.com) For the week I rode in a couple jeeps that ran the Wild Peak AT's. This tire ate up everything we could throw at it. Here's a write up I did on the tire after I came back.

I've been trying to decide which new set of tires to put on my 01 TJ for quite a while, after doing all my research I've decided on the Wild Peaks. I don't off road all that much and this is my daily driver. I've had a set of the BF Goodrich A/T's on it for about 60k miles, I LOVE those tires! In the 31x10.5 15's, I've done a small lift and purchased a set of the soft 8's to throw on, I want badly to move up to 33x12.5. Being a daily driver and occasionally going off road, the wild peaks seem a great choice for me BUT I see the max air pressure is 35psi?????? What's up with this? Anyone have a good answer? I don't want to feel like I'm driving on air'd down tires. The 32x11.5 for example is max psi of 50, as well as the BFG A/T's that are comming off as soon as I decide on tires. Anyone have experiance with the Wild Peaks in the 33" size? Or will I have to settle for the 32" and always wonder "what if?"

35psi Max is very common for a 33" tire with a C load rating.....

Ok, I've only every driven 31" tires at a psi of 45-50. How do 33's ride at 35psi? I'm trying to move up without sacrificing mpg. It's a daily driver that I use on the weekend for mild off road fishing adventures. I by no means need a super aggressive mud tire, even the 33" size is probably an over kill for my needs, but I want the 'look' of bigger tires and also to fill out the gaps in the wheel wells after a 2.5 lift and 1" body lift. For a daily driver this is an excellent tire. I wouldn't let the max pressure bother you. Yes it may feel a little softer to you at first but any "C" rated tire in a 33x12.50R15 will have a max pressure of 35psi.

Anytime you move up in tire sizes it will have an effect on your MPG. There's really no stopping it. You are adding weight and often width as well. Running the tire at a higher PSI than what is recommended for your vehicle will usually help you get more MPG but this can come at the sacrifice of tire life if over inflated. Over inflated tires will wear faster down the center of the tread. A tire can be over inflated at a pressure lower than the tires max. Never exceed a tires max pressure.

A good buddy of mine works at discount tire, he recommended them for my plow truck/tow rig. I can tell you from my experience so far, these tires are awesome, no complaints whatsoever

Good to hear you're happy with them, I had to put the cheapest possible tires on a 'knock around' car yesterday, pep boys it was, I'm assuming the sales man was just trying to make a sale, but he had nothing nice to say about them, also that many customers have had terrible luck with them. I don't know how this could be, considering they don't even sell Faulken at this chain auto parts store.

^Wow. I always get irritated when I hear things like that. This tire hasn't even been out long enough for most people to wear them out. I message on 200 forums (not an exaggeration) I have read very, very few complaints about this tire. Most people are surprised at how well they ride and handle on and off road.

Thanks again to everyone for the tire help, I was ready to order them, and now there is a super great price for the Falken Rocky Mountain ATS! I sure wish the $50 rebate was on the Wild Peaks, it would make my choice eaiser. LOL! What are the major differences between the Rocky Mountain vs the Wild Peak? SO MANY CHOICES down to 2...well 2 1/2. My first choice was the BFG A/T KO...I've had them in 31x10.5 for 60k miles, I was just going to move up to the 33x12.5 however I think for my needs, they're too much tire.

I can find the Wild Peak 33x12.5 weigh in at 54 lbs with a tread depth of 18/32, I cannot find the weight or tread depth for the Rocky Mountain. Please let me know if you can.

They are almost identical, The biggest difference is the name on the sidewall.

That's what I thought. I had the rocky mountains put on at my buddys discount tire, and like I said before they're great.

Were supposed to get 12-18+ inches of snow in the next 2 days so I'm excited to see how well they do on my plow truck

It finally snowed!!! Took the jeep out in it and the tires performed well on the icy, snowy and wet roads. Only needed 4wd once to get around someone trying to wreck me on an icy uphill offramp. Felt slipping only when I purposely mashed the brakes hard. Still pleased with these tires.

I am running the BFG A/T KOs 33x12.5 and run 29psi in the fronts and 28psi in the rears. The ride is great. I did the chalk test and this seems to be the best psi for even treadwear. I really like the BFG KOs.

Well I got my tires finally put on with the rims today! Glad it's finally done. Too wet outside to do the chalk test just yet, so I have them at 30psi at the moment. Riding around today in the wet weather they did wonderfully! My 'Heep" has never looked better. Now I'm just waiting for my bumpers to be finished being built!

Let me know what you all think! (I can take the bad with the good as long as it's constructive)
